I am so glad you are alive

I am so glad you are alive

so that when I wake up

I can smell the softness of your

exuberant little head

lying golden before me

I am so glad you are alive

so that when I touch your hand

I get swept away by the wildest waters

You intrepid northern river of mine

I am so glad you are alive

so that I can look into those fugitive eyes

and catch the tiniest little glitter

of the party that’s going on inside

Oh I am so glad you are alive

so that at night

my dear,

when the sky is still lit of blue

and the trees get darker and darker,

I can come and listen to your rambling dreaming heart

and just before the moon starts gliding your hair of silver

I squish my eyes extremely hard

and pray that I can be alive

for one more moment

with you
